Athul started music lessons with Suzuki violin from the age of four, in Tokyo, Japan under Sensei Kazue Fukui, a direct disciple of Sensei Shinichi Suzuki, the founder of the Suzuki Method of learning music. He has been actively involved in various ensembles from his elementary school days and has performed at Regional and National level concerts in Japan. He has also learned and explored his own compositions and rendering of music on traditional Japanese instruments like Koto right from his younger days. Athul has also been learning Carnatic vocal music from the age of 6, under the able guidance of Sri. Rema Menon and later moved to the US, where he learned from several other eminent teachers including Sri. Rajarajeshwary Bhat.
Athul has also been fortunate enough to be trained on Carnatic violin under the able guidance of Dr. Deepa Ramachandran from the age of 13 and other distinguished teachers like Mullaivasal Dr. G. Chandramouli, Sri. Ganesh Rajagopalan, and Sri. Kaipattoor Radhakrishnan. Athul is a sophomore at UT-Austin pursuing his undergraduate in Computer Science.
